Sunrisers Hyderabad broke the record for the highest Indian Premier League total for the second time this season by posting 287-3 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Travis Head hit 102 from 41 balls and Heinrich Klaasen a 31-ball 67 while England’s Reece Topley returned figures of 1-68 from his four overs.

Sunrisers’ score is also the highest in a T20 franchise tournament.

It is the second-highest in any men’s T20 – only bettered by Nepal, who scored 314-3 against Mongolia last year.

Australia international Head hit nine fours and eight sixes – first putting on 108 with Abhishek Sharma for the opening wicket.

Abhishek was dismissed by Topley but Head continued to reach his century in 39 balls, making it the fourth-fastest in IPL history.

He skied a catch to mid-off off Lockie Ferguson in the 13th over but Klaasen struck seven sixes, Aiden Markram an unbeaten 32 from 17 balls and Abdul Samad 37 not out from 10 in another record-breaking effort for the side captained by Australia skipper Pat Cummins.

England all-rounder Will Jacks’ three wicketless overs cost 32.
